CUSTOMIZABLE Dorthy Draper Designer Style Dresser/Chest of Drawers/Buffet/Credenza
CUSTOMIZABLE Dorthy Draper Designer Style Dresser/Chest of Drawers/Buffet/Credenza
$3,195.00

This Newly Constructed 6 Drawer Dorthy Draper inspired Chest is modeled after her most popular and extremely sought after España Bunching Chest. This style was originally designed in the 1950s at the behest of the Spanish government to elevate the profile of Spanish-style design.

"Dorothy Draper was born to a wealthy and privileged family in 1889, in one of the most exclusive communities in American history, Tuxedo Park. She was the first to “professionalize” the interior design industry by establishing, in 1923, the first interior design company in the United States, Dorothy Draper & Company. She was deemed the most influential American interior decorator of the past century. Dorothy, used vibrant, “splashy” colors in never-before-seen combinations, such as aubergine and pink."

The pink piece listed is an example finish. The actual piece to be customized is in the last 3 photos of this listing. This piece will be professionally lacquered In the color of your choice (any Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore color). Each drawer front will feature hand-painted gold detail on each drawer front. This is also a homage to the exact style in which Dorthy finished all of the details in her designs. The drawers can be decorated with designer paper (at the cost of the wallpaper of your choice) and will include solid brass hardware and optional solid brass feet to compliment the beautiful hardware. All drawers are dovetailed and sit on wooden drawer runners that work perfectly! Lead time is 4-6 weeks before shipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is vintage furniture suitable for me?

I firmly believe that vintage furniture isn't suitable for everyone. There are trade-offs and compromises with every significant decision, and choosing vintage is no exception. Your vintage piece will come with noticeable minor imperfections.

Vintage furniture is the opposite of perfect. It's not a fit for everyone. If you're seeking well-crafted furniture that has endured over time, furniture with charm, character, unique lines, and beautiful hardware, and furniture that can be customized to complement your decor, then we are your ideal source. Vintage furniture is also significantly more affordable than newly made pieces. In addition, you can customize your color, sheen, hardware choices and really make unique for just your space.

Do you repair all the small damages and flaws in the piece?

We address most imperfections in the piece, though achieving absolute perfection in a vintage-refinished item isn't feasible.

No finish is ever truly perfect, however, what flaws that may be in the piece will be nearly imperceptible to the eye, my pieces come to you better than they were sold by the original manufacturer, that I can guarantee.

What are your care instructions?

Use a lint-free, soft cloth such as microfiber for general dusting. Avoid harsh chemicals and refrain from dragging objects across the surface during cleaning. Wizards mist and shine is the product I recommend for every day cleaning and polishing. For heavier clean-ups, just a little soapy water (dawn dishwashing liquid) will do the trick. Then Wipe dry, NEVER leave standing water on your piece.

Also, I highly recommend getting your local glass purveyor to custom cut a piece of glass for your lacquered surfaces, especially if they will be high use surfaces such as dressers and end tables.  It's usually relatively inexpensive and will protect your beautifully lacquered/finished surfaces.

Every piece that is shipped out includes a detailed aftercare instruction sheet along with touch-up paint if you ever need it, felt furniture pads, and a microfiber cloth to get you started.
